Yan Province

During the Northern Wei period, the jurisdiction of Yan Province roughly encompassed modern central-western Shandong and parts of northeastern Henan. In the early Northern Wei, this region was under the administration of the Qing Province Inspectorate. Following subsequent administrative adjustments, it gradually became the core territory of the Yan Province Inspectorate.

Qing Province

After the Northern Wei unified the north, Qing Province became an administrative region directly under the Imperial Secretariat. Its territory covered modern eastern Shandong and parts of central Shandong, including major administrative districts such as Langya Commandery and Qi Commandery.

Qi Province

Qi Province, established by the Northern Wei in the Shandong region, was initially under the jurisdiction of the Qing Province Inspectorate. As administrative divisions evolved, Qi Province gradually became an independent administrative unit. Its scope included modern Jinan City and the surrounding areas.

Xu Province

Xu Province, established by the Northern Wei within the borders of Shandong, primarily governed modern southern Shandong and parts of northern Jiangsu. In the early Northern Wei, this region was under the administration of the Yu Province Inspectorate. It was later transferred and incorporated into the Xu Province Inspectorate after adjustments.
